Heat Sources

Your heat source provides the warmth that powers your entire radiant system. The boiler heats the water, and then the HUG Hydronics tank circulates it through your PEX loops to warm your home. Most projects use a propane, natural gas or electric boiler, and the Wizard will help you choose the fuel type that best fits your home.

Propane boilers offer strong heat output and are great for rural homes without natural gas lines.

Natural Gas boilers provide efficient, consistent heating and are often the most cost-effective option when gas service is available.

Electric boilers are simple, quiet, and ideal for smaller projects or homes without gas access. 

We also support combi boilers, which produce both radiant heat and domestic hot water. These require a specific fitting kit, which the Wizard will add automatically if you select one.

If you plan to use a wood boiler kit, we can integrate it into your system, but wood heat comes with specific design considerations. A member of our team can help you make sure everything connects safely and efficiently.

Every system also includes a heat-source pump kit, which circulates water between the boiler and the tank. The Wizard selects the correct pump kit automatically, along with the appropriate fitting kit. When you choose both the tank and boiler from HUG, the fitting kit is included at no extra cost.

Heat sources can vary from home to home, but the Wizard gives you a clear starting point. Once you submit your project, a member of our team will review everything and help confirm the heat source that fits your goals, climate, and insulation requirements.
