"You'll have to talk to Steph, she did it."

In the closet, under the stairs, next to the suitcase is where Steph installed her HUG Hydronics In-Floor Heating System.

"I did it in about an hour," she says, "It's so easy I think my 8 year old son could do it."

Traditional in-floor heating means a wall of plumbing: manifolds, valves, dozens of fittings. HUG replaces all of that with one tank, a set of pumps, and a control panel that knows, with the help of a thermostat or 2, when each part of your floor needs heat.

What's a HUG Hydronics In-floor heating system?

For DIY'ers

Will I actually be able to do this?:

Do I need a plumber or electrician? No. The system is low-pressure and designed for homeowner installation. Wiring is limited to connecting thermostat wires with a small screwdriver — no electrician-level work involved.

What if my house is an odd shape, or I have multiple floor types? The Wizard walks you through your specific floors, zones, and insulation setup. If it's unusual, our team will help you customize a plan on a call — no charge to ask.

What if I get partway through and get stuck? Live tech support is available by phone, chat, or email. Most installers finish in about an hour; if something's off, we walk you through it in real time.

What if I mess something up? The system is built to be forgiving — low pressure means fewer failure points, and the manual/video walk through every connection step by step. See our warranty →

  • Part 1- Get your system

Design it — Walk through the Wizard (or request a PEX layout design if you want it done for you).

Talk to us (optional) — Call, email, or request a personalized quote if you want a second opinion before ordering.

Order — Full payment, or reserve with 50% down.

  • Part 2 - Install it yourself

    1. Plan for in-floor heating
    2. Insulate under your floor (we recommend Heat-Sheet for walk in ease).
    3. Lay your PEX pipes down according to your layout.
    4. Pour your cement

When the house is ready for heat:

    1. Install your boiler (may want a pro for this part)
    2. Connect your PEX pipes to the HUG tank, using the provided clamps
    3. Connect hoses to boiler
    4. Wire your thermostats- strip the wire, attach it to the labeled terminals.
    5. Fill the system with water and power it on.

DONE- no waiting on inspections for a wall of copper.

My experience has been great from the beginning. These folks efficiently support your project from planning through installation and into expansion. Most mechanical systems suppliers shy away from DIY clients, but HUG Hydronics makes it easy with a combination of a simple design and top-notch training and support. I have been given great advice and direction from the beginning. I highly recommend this company and their products.
